BIK vs Klaviyo for WhatsApp and Email Marketing (2026)

Klaviyo now supports WhatsApp natively, and BIK is built WhatsApp-first. Here is a fair head-to-head on WhatsApp, email, SMS, helpdesk, AI agents and India availability, plus how to choose.

BIK vs Klaviyo for WhatsApp and Email Marketing (2026)

BIK and Klaviyo now both support WhatsApp and email, but they are built from opposite ends. Klaviyo is an email-first marketing platform that added native WhatsApp in September 2025, while BIK is a WhatsApp-first CRM that combines marketing automation, a helpdesk and AI agents. Choose Klaviyo if email is your main revenue channel and WhatsApp is an add-on; choose BIK if WhatsApp drives a large share of your sales and support.

BIK is our product; we've tried to represent every tool fairly. Klaviyo details were checked on klaviyo.com and the Klaviyo Help Center in October 2026. Both products change often, so confirm current features before you decide.

Klaviyo and WhatsApp: what changed

For years, brands that used Klaviyo needed a third-party app to add WhatsApp. That is no longer true. Klaviyo announced WhatsApp as a native channel on September 24, 2025, and its WhatsApp product page now describes it as having "native channel support" alongside email and SMS.

Based on Klaviyo's own documentation, its WhatsApp support now includes:

  • Marketing, utility and service messages, including two-way conversations
  • WhatsApp inside automated flows and omnichannel campaigns
  • Rich formats such as catalogs, carousels, quick replies, images and call-to-action buttons
  • Customer Agent on WhatsApp, an AI agent that replies to incoming messages and hands off to a configured destination when needed
  • Per-message billing that follows Meta's pricing rules, drawn from a Mobile Messaging plan, with service messages free

There are two limits worth knowing. First, Klaviyo's WhatsApp page notes that Meta does not currently support WhatsApp marketing messages to US phone numbers. Second, Klaviyo SMS is not available in India, according to Klaviyo's SMS availability list, although India appears in its WhatsApp billing rates. For Indian brands, that means Klaviyo can cover email and WhatsApp, but not SMS.

Klaviyo: strengths and who it's for

Klaviyo is one of the most widely used email marketing platforms for ecommerce, and its strength is data. Customer profiles, segmentation, predictive analytics and pre-built flows such as welcome, browse abandonment and post-purchase are deep and well tested. Adding WhatsApp natively means a Klaviyo brand can now run WhatsApp steps inside the same flows and campaigns without a separate vendor.

Strengths:

  • Best-in-class email editor, segmentation and flow library
  • Unified profiles across email, SMS, push and now WhatsApp
  • Large ecosystem of integrations and agencies
  • AI Customer Agent that can work on WhatsApp

Watch-outs:

  • WhatsApp is the newest channel, so it has less history than the email product
  • No SMS in India
  • Full support operations usually still sit in a separate helpdesk

Best for: brands where email drives most retention revenue, selling mainly into markets where Klaviyo's full channel set is available.

BIK: strengths and who it's for

BIK is a full-stack CRM for D2C brands that combines a helpdesk, marketing automation across WhatsApp, Instagram, email and SMS, and a no-code AI agent builder. It was built around WhatsApp commerce, so the default experience assumes customers will browse, buy, ask questions and request returns inside chat, not only open emails.

Because marketing and support share one platform, a customer who clicks a WhatsApp campaign and then asks about delivery stays in one thread with one history. AI agents can recommend products, recover carts and answer order-status questions, then hand off to a human in the same helpdesk.

LEGO India runs its WhatsApp experience on BIK, including the WhatsApp widget on lego.in.

Strengths:

  • WhatsApp-first design for campaigns, journeys and conversational commerce
  • Helpdesk and marketing in one platform, so sales and support share context
  • No-code AI agents that both sell and support
  • Covers Instagram and SMS alongside WhatsApp and email

Watch-outs:

  • If email is 80% or more of your retention revenue, Klaviyo's email depth may matter more to you
  • Built Shopify-first, so check support for other platforms

Best for: D2C brands where WhatsApp drives a large share of revenue and support, particularly in India and other WhatsApp-first markets.

Head-to-head by use case

WhatsApp campaigns and automation

Both now support WhatsApp campaigns and automated flows with rich templates. BIK treats WhatsApp as its primary channel and pairs it with conversational commerce and support. Klaviyo treats WhatsApp as one channel inside a profile-driven marketing system. If WhatsApp is your main channel, BIK's WhatsApp-first workflows are the better fit. If WhatsApp is a secondary channel next to email, Klaviyo's single system is convenient.

Email marketing

Klaviyo has the edge. Its email builder, segmentation and flow library are the benchmark in ecommerce. BIK includes email inside its marketing automation, which suits brands that want WhatsApp and email orchestrated together rather than an email specialist tool.

Customer support

BIK includes a full helpdesk, so marketing and support teams work from one inbox. Klaviyo offers a WhatsApp inbox and Customer Agent, and integrates with helpdesks such as Zendesk for broader support operations.

AI agents

Both now offer AI agents on WhatsApp. Klaviyo's Customer Agent answers incoming messages and hands off when needed. BIK offers a no-code agent builder for sales and support use cases. Test both on your own catalog and top support questions.

India-specific needs

For Indian brands, channel availability matters. Klaviyo SMS is not available in India, so a Klaviyo stack in India is email plus WhatsApp. BIK covers WhatsApp, Instagram, email and SMS in one platform.

How to choose

  1. Look at your revenue mix. If email drives most retention revenue, start with Klaviyo. If WhatsApp does, start with BIK.
  2. Check where your customers are. WhatsApp-first markets such as India favor a WhatsApp-first platform. US-heavy audiences cannot receive WhatsApp marketing messages, per Klaviyo's note on Meta's policy.
  3. Decide if support belongs in the same tool. If you want marketing and helpdesk together, BIK covers both. With Klaviyo, plan for a separate helpdesk.
  4. Model total cost. Include profile-based or plan-based fees, WhatsApp message charges and any extra helpdesk subscription.
  5. Pilot one flow. Run the same abandoned cart flow on both during trials and compare recovered revenue.

Verdict

Klaviyo is the better choice for email-led brands that want to add WhatsApp to a mature email and SMS program. BIK is the better choice for WhatsApp-first D2C brands, especially in India, that want WhatsApp marketing, email, a helpdesk and AI agents in one CRM. Some brands run both, using Klaviyo for email and BIK for WhatsApp commerce and support.
